Political prisoners and forced labor in the East German dictatorship (GDR) – an eyewitness account by a political historian

The speaker will be Peter Keup, PhD student of Political History at Friedrich Wilhelm University Bonn and former political prisoner of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) of the German Democratic Republic. After his expatriation and being sold to West Germany –
as one of almost 34,000 political prisoners -, he moved to Essen, where he owned a dance school before receiving a BA degree in Cultural Studies from FernUniversität Hagen and an MA degree in Political-Historical Studies from Friedrich-Wilhelm University Bonn.
